Our guide is Alphonce, the very nice youth leader
of the parish Mansese. His university-studies are made possible through a
scholarship by the foundation „Jugend fördern – Grenzen überspringen“. We ride
on the express bus line, built by STRABAG, into the city center. All around us
the hectic and loud chaos of tanzanian traffic. Honking cars, overloaded Dalla
Dallas, three-wheeled TukTuks and in between many motorcycles and bikes.
Traffic rules do apparently not exist. The law of the stronger one is
effective.
Jahren an.
We visit
the St. Josephs cathedral and are amazed by the historical buildings from the
british and german colonial time, ca. 120 years ago. Then we board the small
ferry to go to the other side of the bay. After a short TukTuk ride we reach a
wonderful tropical beach, where the natives spend their weekends. Unbelievable
that a relaxing beach like this can be found in such proximity to a loud and
overloaded metropolis.
