Montag, dritter Tag, 31. Juli 2017
After the wonderful breakfast, always kindly
prepared by the sisters, we continue to an official issue of our journey: We
visit the headmaster of the primary school, Sister Janina. We hand over our
donations and presents: From the “Sternsingeraktion” of our parish Neufünfhaus
we give 7,000 €, from the foundation “Jugend fördern-Grenzen überspringen” 10,000 €
and from the parish Uno-City 4,000 €. We also filled two suitcases with chalk
and colour pencils.
We all
thank god, that every one of us can contribute what they have. We feel, that we
are all giving and receiving.
Later on we take a look around the school and
introduce ourselves in each class. Some greet us with a song, others
immediately want to know our names. One class prays with us and we sing the
blessing “may the road rise to meet you”.
It was fascinating to see, what role music
plays in their school and daily lives. Especially the younger children greeted
us excitedly and gave us a hug. Everyone wants to know more about our life. The
children tell us about their dreams for the future. From the bootom of our hearts
we wish them, that they will come true.
In the afternoon we drive to the place of birth
of Sister Betty. We pray together at her father’s grave and meet part of her
family. Then we continue to Lake Chala, which Betty often visited in her
childhood. The lake developed out of the crater of a vulcano, the beautiful
scenery is very impressive.
Through the lake the border to Kenya is drawn.
